Camping trip to Deception Pass - September 2004

View Album (33 photos)

Our second and last camping trip of the year. We got really lucky with the weather for the whole weekend -- you'll see in the pictures that the fog was thick, but the temperature was in a comfortable range. And when the sun came out to burn off the fog, it revealed a beautiful blue sky.

Hiking on Mt. Rainier - September 2004

View Album (11 photos)

We finally went to Mt. Rainier for a hike! All this time we had been admiring it from afar, but to see it up close was a totally different experience.

John Kerry rally - August 2004

View Album (9 photos)

Lucretia and I went to a Kerry rally in Tacoma. It was my first political event -- not really surprising, considering I can't vote. But the chance to see a big name politician like Kerry was too good to let pass. Russell, Blaine, and Lucretia's co-worker from the summer temp job, Adam, also went.

Elliott and Margaret's wedding - July 2004

View Album (32 photos)

Our best friends from college, Margaret and Elliott got married on July 31. We returned to Chicago for their wedding, as well as to spend some time with Lucretia's family. The trip once again reminded us of what a great city Chicago is, and how most of our friends are still there (although Elliott and Margaret will move to North Carolina soon!). We like Seattle, but I think we are still in love with Chicago!

Camping trip to Orcas Island - July 2004

View Album (21 photos)

Our first camping trip since moving to the northwest! Lucretia planned a perfect trip in which we camped for two nights in Moran State Park on Orcas Island, which is one of many, many islands in San Juan county. The San Juan Islands are located in the northwest corner of Washington, and consist of over 740 islands (that's the count during low tide... with high tide it goes down to 428). Orcas Island is the largest of them all, and was beautiful, but don't take my word for it.... Enjoy the pix.

Len's visit to Seattle - June 2004

View Album (12 photos)

Len, my high school friend, came to Seattle for work! It was great to see him -- for the first time in 9 years or so. He was here for about 5 days, but most of the time he was working. I wish we had more time to hang out, but I did my best to show him around. It was great to catch up with you, Len!

Day trip to Vancouver - April 2004

View Album (17 photos)

Ever since we moved out to Seattle this had been #1 on our to-do list. Well, we actually wanted to do an overnight trip, but this allowed us to be more care-free about indulging on a little shopping here and there or going out to a decent restaurant for dinner. And oh yeah, the trip gave us -- ok, me, not us -- a reason to go to the Tulalip Casino on the way back... How convenient!

Taking a walk with Jerry - April 2004

View Album (13 photos)

My big boy Jerry is from the street, so naturally he wants to go back out there every chance he gets. But Lucretia and I are not ready to let go... After all, we already lost one cat. (And we have only three left!) So in order to satisfy Jerry's hunger for the pavement, we bought a puppy harness and a leash. The weather in Seattle has been fabulous in April, so we go out there quite often -- "there" meaning the patio, because he's not ready for the REAL sidewalk just yet....

My bike ride to/from work - April 2004

View Album (16 photos)

Kids, do not try this at home. I took these pictures while riding my bike either on the way to work or home. The Burke Gilman Trail leads me right to my office in Fremont, while avoiding messy hills and traffic through Wallingford. I'm happy to report that I haven't crashed into anything or anybody while taking these pictures... yet.
